Honors English 4
Honors English 4 explores the analysis of literature through Thomas Foster's book, HOW TO READ LIKE A PROFESSOR. With this knowledge, students develop an expertise in literary analysis. The analytical writing process and the quality of content is a major focus in this course. Our study is based on the literature of Europe with an emphasis on British Literature. Relevance to real life experiences is also stressed throughout each unit.
Students in Honors English are typically college-bound and use the skills gained throughout the semester to experience success on the college level. The RSSS Graduation Project in finalized during the semester a student is enrolled in this class.
A rubric for scoring writing assignments is provided for each student. Daily Responses are assigned each day and require interpretation, analysis and application of ideas. These assignments provide much needed support in every area of the Honors 4 curriculum as well as future academic endeavors.
